Phillip and Mario challenged each other to write many pieces for this group in the making of the album. Mario wrote this piece, which made up of fast wiggly phrases and repeated notes, as a dedication to Phillip. This piece is also directly inspired by Anthony Braxton’s “language types,” which impose limitations on the improvisation, making the vocabulary more specific. The piece aims to invite in and then control as much chaos as possible: many voices arm-wrestle with each other, yet also work together towards the same end goal.
